The president of the Southeast Conference of the Association for Asian Studies, Prof. Charlie Yi Zhang of the University of Kentucky, and the members of the SEC-AAS Board welcome submissions for the annual academic prizes made by the organization.
As in past years, the SEC-AAS will award four prizes — best book, article, graduate, and undergraduate paper — at the 2026 conference. Books and articles published during 2025 and graduate and undergraduate papers written during 2025 and nominated by a faculty advisor are eligible for the awards. These should be written by scholars or students regularly or currently based in the Southeastern United States (taken to be the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and the southern portions of Virginia).
The deadline for submissions is October 31, 2025. Books and graduate papers should be sent to Professor Yaohua Shi (shiy@wfu.edu), articles to Professor Gengsong Gao (ggao@richmond.edu), and undergraduate papers to Professor J.W. Turner (jturner@highpoint.edu).
